About Stitchcrvft

Hello Fiends!

Call me Vicky, the brains behind Stitchcrvft - Where tiny adopt-a-ghosts call home!

Founded in 2021

Stitchcrvft was born in October of 2021! All thanks to my mom. Being a creative soul my whole life, I have loved making things for others for gifts and treats. One October I made my Mom a small wreath covered in tiny pumpkins also known as putkah pods. I Spent hours gluing each individual pod onto a Styrofoam wreath and finished it off with a cute autumnal bow. My mom was blown away, and she encouraged me to Join Esty and start selling my few crafty bits.

It all starts with a name!

Around this time I was experimenting with felt and thought I would make a few autumnal felt ornaments like leaves, moons and cauldrons to sell. Thus Stitchcrvft was born.

Evolving

I continued to experiment with different creative media, moving from felt to clay as I began to create hanging ornaments made from air-dry clay. I was in my element and loved experimenting with different household objects that I could use for tools in my craft. FYI metal straws make great hold punches for clay ornaments!

Polymer clay makes an entrance

Around February 2022 I had discovered polymer clay. Following so many beautiful artists on Instagram and Facebook opened my world of crafting into whole new galaxies of experimentation. So I began to create my first ever earrings, and boy oh boy was it a challenge!

Looking back, my first earrings were terrible, but I persisted. I honed the craft over time and now 4 years on my earrings are definitely MUCH better.

A ghost is born!

I have always been a lover of Halloween. I LOVE anything spooky, macabre, gothic and everything in-between. I grew up with cheesy horror films and budget blood on the screens and in March of 2022 I created a very small handful of figurines that would soon become the core of my business and inspiration for my whole business!

One day whilst on a car journey I suddenly had an idea of making a little ghost, I had already made some ghost earrings so why not make a little ghost you could pop on your shelf? So I got to work. I experimented with shapes and techniques until I settled on to my modelling method that I still use now! If it aint broke and all that..

I advertised them on a spooky Facebook group and they flew! I couldn't believe my eyes. I knew I was onto something here so I went with it.

Ever evolving

I started to experiment with different accessories, little outfits and trinkets for each ghost to hold and wear. Colours and shapes evolved and before I knew it I had a budding collection of ghosties that people wanted to adopt. I started doing markets online and in person and gaining some regular customers. I began creating custom ghosts, truly one of a kind which is still one of my favourite things to do! I became self employed and was able to focus all of my time on creating a world of tiny adopt a ghosts!

Becoming ghost girl

In the present, I know I have made thousands of ghosts by this point. I've maintained my Etsy store but decided to go out on a limb and create my own website that would allow me more creative control. It was one of the best decisions I made and I love bringing all of the special things here.

I continue to experiment and explore, and I cant wait to see what comes in the future.

I love being ghost girl and I love bringing you all on the journey with me.
